The fear of losing control. The fear of becoming violent. The awareness that something could always be there, waiting just over his shoulder.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSo he painted it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNot as a clinical explanation of PTSD, and not as an attempt to describe anyone else's experience.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHe painted \u003cstrong\u003ewhat his felt like\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe monster became a physical presence on the canvas: something that follows, watches, threatens, and remains close even during otherwise ordinary moments.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt was a way of taking something invisible and making it visible.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA way of saying:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThis is what I live with.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThis is what it feels like.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDo you understand how it feels now?\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThat realization became an important part of Timothy Colomer's work.
