Ben Ducklyn

7 × 10 inches original watercolor on archival paper

By Timothy Colomer

Benjamin Franklin gets the rubber duck treatment in Ben Ducklyn, an original watercolor by Timothy Colomer. Timothy wanted to loosen up the wholesome image he associates with portraits of the American icon and make room for a little mischief. Dressing a rubber duck as Franklin gives that idea a playful form: a recognizable historical figure with a less solemn presence. It is an affectionate, cheeky interpretation that invites a smile before a history lesson.
