ChaCha Duck
7 × 10 inches original watercolor on archival paper
By Timothy Colomer
Some cities celebrate with fireworks.
Rio de Janeiro celebrates with music.
While wandering through the colorful streets during Carnival, Robert could hardly believe his eyes. Everywhere he looked, dancers twirled through the streets in brilliant costumes covered with flowers, feathers, and enough color to make a rainbow feel underdressed.
Then the music began.
Without thinking twice, he joined the parade.
Before long, Robert was wearing a spectacular fruit-filled headdress, dancing alongside new friends beneath the watchful gaze of Christ the Redeemer high above the city.
No one cared where he came from.
No one asked him to know the steps.
All they wanted was for him to smile, dance, and celebrate the moment together.
Sometimes the best way to experience another culture isn't by watching from the sidewalk.
It's by joining the dance.
If you could celebrate one festival anywhere in the world, where would you go?
