Mike Tubed

7 × 10 inch watercolor on archival paper

By Timothy Colomer

Mike had been waiting all morning for the right wave.

Robert had already caught a few, but Mike wasn't interested in just riding any wave. He wanted the wave.

When it finally arrived, everything slowed down for just a moment.

He dropped in, found the perfect line, and before he knew it, the ocean wrapped itself around him in a crystal blue tunnel. For a few unforgettable seconds, there was nothing but the sound of rushing water, the glow of the sunset, and the biggest smile a traveling goose had ever worn.

Back on the beach, Robert insisted that Mike had finally been "tubed."

Mike wasn't exactly sure what that meant...

...but if it meant riding a wave like that, he hoped it would happen every single day.

Some moments don't need words.

They simply remind you why you came.

If you could ride one perfect wave anywhere in the world, where would it be?
