Before Japan... before the waves... before the casinos, festivals, and impossible stories... there were simply two friends standing side by side, wondering what was waiting beyond the horizon.

Robert and Mike couldn't be more different.

Robert is the kind who sees an open door and walks through it without asking what's on the other side.

Mike usually has a map, a plan, and at least three backup plans tucked into his pocket.

Together, they somehow make it work.

This portrait captures the moment before every great adventure begins.
