Welcome to Japan
Welcome to Japan
7 × 10 inch watercolor on archival paper
By Timothy Colomer
Robert and Mike had finally arrived.
After leaving the harbor and making their way toward the city, they stopped in their tracks. Standing before them was a welcoming gate unlike anything they had ever seen.
Beyond it stretched a place filled with brilliant colors, ancient temples, quiet streets, and the distant silhouette of Mount Fuji watching over it all.
The air carried the aroma of fresh ramen, grilled yakitori, and warm pastries drifting from nearby cafés. Friendly smiles greeted them as they wandered deeper into the city, and every street seemed cleaner, calmer, and more inviting than the last.
They had traveled a long way from home.
But somehow, Japan already felt like somewhere they belonged.
This wasn't just another destination.
It was the beginning of an adventure that would change the way they looked at the world forever.
They adjusted their backpacks, smiled at one another, and stepped through the gate together.
If you had just arrived in Japan, where would your first adventure begin?
