Hidden Shadows

Some fears live in plain sight.

Others wait in the places where the light struggles to reach.

Hidden Shadows was inspired by the monsters that exist just beyond certainty. Whether they come from science fiction, imagination, or the quiet corners of our own minds, they remind us that courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is choosing to move forward anyway.

The creature emerging from the darkness is intentionally unsettling. Its expression is frozen somewhere between predator and nightmare, while the loose ink lines and layered watercolor washes allow parts of it to disappear into the shadows that surround it. What isn't fully seen is often more frightening than what is.

For me, this piece is less about monsters than about the unknown.

Every adventure eventually leads into unfamiliar territory. Every explorer, artist, first responder, veteran, and dreamer has faced moments where the next step had to be taken without knowing what waited ahead.

The shadows never completely disappear.

But neither does our ability to walk through them.
